Here is another thing I have to get off my chest. I absolutely HATEEEE that producers/directors/whoever at disney decided that it was acceptable to have actors do the speaking voices of the female characters that were not able to do the singing parts.
If the actor isn’t good enough to sing, they are not good enough to speak! Jasmine, Pocahontas and Mulan (Actors Linda Larkin, Irene Bedard and Ming-Na performed the speaking voices.) are the only 3 official Disney Princesses who don’t have the same actor for the singing and speaking voices. If I was one of these actors I would be so ashamed and embarrassed. Why are the other 7 actors for the other princesses able to do both parts. I love every movie from the 10 Disney Princesses film, but none of these films were my favourites.
I think it was some poor planning from Disney executives. (notice that all these movies are from the 90’s.) They have since come back to the notion that the actor must do both singing and speaking parts, and I am very happy about it. :)
